Trust & Safety

Your safety is our first priority

TRUZH is designed for trusted local trading. Verified communities, in-app messaging, and active moderation protect you from end to end - but informed users are the strongest defense of all.

How TRUZH protects you

Three layers of protection

Technology, people, and verified communities working together to keep every trade safe.

Automated monitoring

Predictive systems scan listings, profiles, and messages 24/7 to flag suspicious activity, prohibited items, and potential fraud before it reaches you.

Human moderation

Every report submitted by a TRUZH user is reviewed by our Safety & Support team. Real people, real decisions, real accountability.

Community verification

Communities require institutional email verification. Clans require admin approval. Trust starts before the first message is sent.

The Golden Rule

Always keep communication and agreements inside TRUZH

Never share passwords, verification codes, or financial details through chat or any other channel. TRUZH will never ask you for these. If anyone does, it's a scam - report it immediately.

Spot the warning signs

Recognising suspicious activity

Scammers follow predictable patterns. Learn the red flags and you'll spot them every time.

Requests to move off TRUZH

Anyone asking you to continue a conversation on WhatsApp, email, or phone before meeting is a serious red flag.

External payment links

Links asking you to 'verify' or 'pay' outside the platform are classic phishing attempts. Never click them.

Prices that are too good to be true

If a price feels unrealistically low for a high-value item, trust your instincts. Scammers use bargain bait to attract victims.

Brand-new accounts with no history

Empty profiles with no listings, photo, or activity are higher risk. Verified profiles with history are safer to trade with.

High-pressure language

'Urgent sale,' 'last chance,' 'grab it now' - these phrases are designed to bypass your judgment. Take your time.

Requests for personal credentials

TRUZH will never ask for your password, ID, bank details, or verification codes via chat or email.

In-person trades

Meeting safely in person

Most TRUZH trades happen face-to-face within Communities and Clans. The exchange feels personal because it is - and with a few simple precautions, it's safer than any long-distance shipped transaction.

Remember: For in-person cash trades, TRUZH does not track or mediate the transaction. The exchange is your responsibility.

Safe meetup checklist

  • Confirm item details, agreed price, and meeting location in TRUZH chat before leaving home
  • Choose public, well-lit locations: campus receptions, office lobbies, busy cafés, shopping centers
  • Avoid private addresses, isolated parking lots, or unfamiliar locations
  • Bring a friend or colleague when meeting for high-value items
  • Inspect the item thoroughly before handing over any payment
  • Do not pay until you are satisfied with the item's condition and authenticity
  • Meet during business hours when more people are around
  • Trust your instincts - if something feels wrong, leave
Account protection

Protecting your account

The basics, done well, prevent the vast majority of account takeovers.

Strong, unique passwords

Create a password you don't use anywhere else. Use a password manager if you can.

Keep your email current

Your registered email receives security alerts and verification codes. Always keep it accessible.

Enable two-factor authentication

When 2FA is available in your region, turn it on. It's the single best protection against account takeover.

Log out of shared devices

Used a friend's phone or a public computer? Always log out before leaving.

Money matters

Financial safety

Most TRUZH transactions are completed in person within Communities and Clans. For Public Marketplace trades and high-value items, use the integrated TRUZH-secured payment option for full buyer protection.

  • Use the integrated TRUZH-secured payment system for high-value or public marketplace transactions
  • Never click payment links sent outside TRUZH
  • Do not transfer money in advance for items you have not seen and inspected in person
  • Do not share card details, IBAN, or bank information in chat - ever
  • For in-person cash payments, always inspect and count before finalizing
  • Be cautious with unusually rushed or pressured transactions

If you've been a victim of fraud: Contact your bank immediately, report the incident to TRUZH Support, and notify local authorities.

For sellers

Creating honest, safe listings

As a seller, transparency is your strongest asset. Honest listings result in faster sales, fewer disputes, and a stronger reputation within your community.

  • Upload clear, well-lit photos showing the item from multiple angles
  • Describe items accurately, including any defects, wear, or missing parts
  • Keep your listings up to date - mark items as sold or remove them when no longer available
  • Avoid exaggerated claims or misleading descriptions
  • Respond to buyer questions promptly and honestly

Reporting suspicious activity

Use the in-app Report button

Available on every listing, profile, and chat message. Reports are reviewed confidentially by our Safety & Support team.

Block to prevent further contact

Block any user from contacting you again. The action is immediate and the user is not notified.

Provide evidence

Screenshots, transaction IDs, and message records help our team investigate quickly and act decisively.

Serious incidents

For fraud, threats, or illegal activity, contact local law enforcement first, then notify TRUZH Support so we can take additional action.

Before every trade

Quick safety checklist

Six questions to ask yourself before any in-person exchange.

  • 1
I have agreed on item details, price, and location inside TRUZH chat
  • 2
I am meeting in a public, well-lit location
  • 3
I have not shared personal contact information outside the platform
  • 4
I will inspect the item before paying
  • 5
I have not clicked any external payment or verification links
  • 6
I have checked the seller's profile and reviews

Stay safe. Trade with trust.

If something feels wrong, trust your instincts and report it. Our Safety & Support team is here to help.
